ADVENTURES IN SITE TRACKING #8
CHANCE IS REAL!!

I have succeeded in convincing someone Chance Tomasaro is real!!

He's listed in some online directory. At first, I thought this had to be coincidence and maybe it was just that someone IRL really had that name...

But notice that he's also listed as "Chancey Tomasaro"!

As you may know, in my early days of writing, Chance was called "Chancey". (Storywise, he was called "Chancey" when he was a kid, but didn't like being called that as he got older. Sometimes, other characters would still call him "Chancey" to tease him.)

Also notice that no information is listed for either name. So, yeah, I guess someone thought Chance Tomasaro is real and added him to the site.

:D

The question is, WHY would someone think Chance, of all my characters, is real and not any of the others? I'm guessing they thought Chance Tomasaro is the person who runs this site. But why randomly assume the webamster is him and not another character? After all, he spends most of his time in the RAU sketches arguing with "The Overlord FO". Why would the webmaster be arguing with him/herself? There are actually several real life Raymond O'Malleys, Jack Sheens, and Christopher Paladins listed on that site, so it's funny to me that one of them wasn't assumed to be the site's owner.

I like to think I'm pretty competent at writing in character voice. But writing SO competently that someone would be convinced that Chance just had to be a real person...that's beyond what I would have estimated my abilities to be.

Oh yeah, pictures to commemorate this glorious event in case that site ever disappears or realizes what's happened and removes Chance from it.

Comments from the RAU Gallery:
Chance: I don't get this sketch. Of course I'm real. Prove otherwise.
Nucleo: Uh, Mr. Tomasaro, it might not be wise to question being real. My wife and Mr. Dunlin III did that many episodes ago and we all paid the price for it.
Jaeger: Whew. I haven't been in a sketch in ages.
Nucleo: You were supposed to be a one-shot character, that's why.
Jaeger: A one-what? Look, man, I still don't quite believe this whole "Overlord controlling my destiny" thing. If that's some more of your 80's crapology then...
Nucleo: Allright, allright. But I'm not helping you a second time if you disappear again.
Jaeger: I'm sure that last incident had nothing to do with any Overlord. It was probably just a momentary transdimensional rift that just happened to occur at that very mome...
Jaeger: *POP!*
Nucleo: *Sigh* Young people these days. They never listen.
Chance: This is making me wish I wasn't real. The pain of these stupid jokes would be less profound.
Nucleo: Maybe if you wouldn't get yourself so worked up over it.
Chance: Can't help it. I'm a one man Statler and Waldorf of this series.
Christopher: I have an idea! What if we were to end this sketch with another sequence of pictures set to song lyrics?
Chance: We ALWAYS do that.
Christopher: Ah, ah, ahhh! But what if this time we provided the lyrics to a song that has not yet been documented anywhere else on the internet?
Chance: An exclusive? Impossible. Surely every song that exists is on some lyrics site by now.
Christopher: Not this one! As of last time I checked, no one has it yet. So if you see it somewhere else after today, you know they got it from here.
Nucleo: Well, I'm curious.
Chance: Okay, but it better be good.
Christopher: Roll film, Gordon!
Gordon: Ready in 5, 4, 3, 2...

TAKE THIS SONG
by Third World

Down in Jamaica, one Friday afternoon
A little bird brought us a song with melody

He said, take this song and give it to the whole wide world
From now on, you're on your own,
Remember that you're not alone

Can't you see that the whole world is changing?
Can't you see there's a new day dawning?

I've come so far...so far from across the sea
I've traveled by day, traveled by night
Through the gloom, with a message to set you free

Take this song and melody (yeah, yeah)
Make this world a symphony
Take this song and melody (oh, whoah)
Make this world a symphony

Can't you see that the whole world is changing?
Can't you see there's a new day dawning?

People sing the same song around the world
A song of love to touch the hearts
Ooh, yes, the hearts of everyone

Take this song and melody (oh, whoah)
Make this world a symphony
Take this song and melody (from a little bird)
Make this world a symphony

He brought the message then he went away
He gave us hope for a brighter day
Gave us strength to make it through the storm

Sea was rough, and times got tough
Ooh, it's up to us to carry on

Take this song and melody (oh, whoah)
Make this world a symphony
Take this song and melody (yeah, yeah, make this world, now)
Make this world a symphony

Take this song and melody (and give it to you, yeah, yeah)
Make this world a symphony
I want you all to sing, sing, sing, sing, sing, sing...
Take this song and melody (sing this song, whoah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Make this world a symphony

Down in Jamaica on a Friday afternoon, yeah
A little bird came with a song and he said
Give it to the whole wide world, yeah

So I'm giving it to you, and you, and you, and you
I want you all to sing, sing, sing, sing, sing, sing

Yeah, yeah (Sing, sing, sing, sing)
Oh, whoah (Make this world...)
Sing, sing, sing, sing, sing, sing...
Take this song... (...a symphony)
Give it to the whole wide world (Sing, sing, sing, sing)
That's what the bird said on a Friday afternoon

Take this song and melody (oh, whoah)
Make this world a symphony
Take this song...

Kuqhaqhazela madolo (Make this world...Make this world, yeah)
Uma ngiqala ngilabang'i Jamaica

Take this song...
Ne South Africa (make this world)
Zihlanganyei'umlulo we nkululeko
Sing, sing, sing, sing, sing, sing...Sing this song, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Sing, sing, sing, sing...make this world a symphony)

Ngaqudludonga nganqamulo manzi!!! (make this world)
Wo!!! Yenzani lenyoni madoda

Take this song (Sing, sing, sing, sing...)
Ngaqudludonga nganqamulo manzi!!! (make this world)
Wo!!! Yenzani lenyoni madoda

Take this song and melody
Make this world a symphony
Take this song and melody
Make this world a symphony

Bonus: Another site that thinks Chance, along with some other RAU Gallery characters and about a million other fictitious characters, are real.
